FITCE

On October 22nd and 23rd, Empowerment Collective’s Founder and Program Director, Nasreen Sheikh and Sahin Pravin, attended the 10th Annual Florida International Trade and Cultural Expo (FITCE). FITCE welcomed local and international companies to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for a unique opportunity to engage high-level government leaders, international trade experts, and delegations from around the world and participate in dialogues relating to international trade, foreign direct investment, and culture.

Nasreen spoke on a panel titled Youth Empowerment to Build a Stronger Global Economy, sharing with FITCE attendees about [EC’S INITIATIVES AND THE IMPORTANCE OF SURVIVOR LEADERSHIP IN YOUTH EMPOWERMENT]. Nasreen also invited fellow commissioner on the Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking, Her Excellency Dr. Epsy Campbell-Barr, former vice president of Costa Rica, to attend FITCE, where she was the featured voice in a Woman World Fireside Chat.

EC also had the opportunity to sell our ethical, sustainable handicrafts at FITCE. Through the trade expo we connected with a community of passionate businesses and consumers, and engaged in meaningful conversations about the importance of supply chain transparency and empowering working conditions for all.
