WE ARE LOOKING FOR 7 DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS

One Day a Week • Empowerment Collective Store at Edge of the Woods

Market Hours: 11 AM – 6 PM • 7 Days a Week (Flexible Schedule)

The Empowerment Collective is seeking 7 committed volunteers, each willing to donate one full day per week, to help run our awareness store inside Edge of the Woods Market in New Haven. This is a powerful way to support a survivor-led global movement to end modern slavery—right from your local community.

Volunteer Role
Staff the store for a full day (or split shifts if needed)
Welcome customers and share our mission
Educate the public about modern slavery and ethical supply chains
Support sales that directly empower survivor artisans
Help maintain product displays & create a positive community space

Scheduling

Store open 7 days a week from 11 AM – 6 PM

We need one volunteer per day

Choose a consistent day (e.g., every Monday)

Flexible: full-day or two half-day shifts

Digital Marketing

  • Create and share engaging content on our social media platforms (Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube).

  • Educate audiences Transpara Trade initiative and its survivor founded projects.

  • Build awareness and momentum around the End Modern Slavery Now! movement.

 

Product Photography

​

  • Capture and edit compelling images of Empowerment Collective’s ethical products.

  • Highlight sustainability and craftsmanship (local fabrics, natural dyes, recycled textiles).

  • Showcase traditional Nepali art and design through photography.

School and University Partnership

​

  • Build communities of advocates at your institution.

  • Host talks and events to raise awareness about modern slavery and ethical consumption.

  • Collaborate with school merchandise teams to ensure products are produced ethically and sustainably.

 

Grant Researcher and Writer

​

  • Research and apply for grants aligned with our survivor-led values.

  • Write compelling, values-based proposals that reflect Empowerment Collective’s mission and vision.

  • Build and maintain relationships with aligned funders.

  • Support the Empowerment Collective boutique in New haven Connecticut which features handmade gifts by artisans.

  • Share knowledge with customers about artisan skill preservation and women’s economic empowerment.

  • Help raise awareness about ethical craftsmanship and sustainable shopping.
